Distribution Company Leverages Managed Collaboration

About the Company

A leading specialist distribution group with operations in numerous countries and across five continents, the company supplies a wide range of consumable products to various customer markets including grocery, foodservice, cleaning and hygiene, safety, non-food retail and healthcare.

The Vision and Challenge

The company’s North American segment had an aging on-premise phone system that lacked the latest technology innovations and communications applications. They needed to migrate to a solution that would improve their meeting and collaboration experience for employees. In addition, the company had a very limited IT staff and therefore it was difficult for them to manage any on-premise solution.

With these considerations in mind, they decided a third-party vendor would be their best option to meet all of their requirements. A managed service provider could not only provision a solution for their communications needs but offload the maintenance burdens of ticketing and daily management as well.

However, finding the right vendor was a challenge. They searched for over a year before they selected InterVision.

The Outcome

The company’s North American leadership liked InterVision’s local presence and flexibility in deployment. Our team worked diligently to maintain constant communication with them, doing several comparisons and business cases for the CIO, so that he could see the deployment and consumption options. We also provided a side-by-side comparison of the Cisco vs. Microsoft experience.

In the end, they selected InterVision for the project because of our deep expertise as a Strategic Service Provider (SSP). Unlike a managed service provider, we intently focused on their long-term strategy to realize their IT vision.

We delivered our Managed Collaboration Services, which seamlessly connected chat functionality, phone systems and web conferencing into a single unified suite. With Cisco as the underlying technology, the company was able to gain best-in-class communications for a fraction of their previous total cost of ownership. They were pleased with the result and have been in talks to expand their IT capabilities to new areas of the business using other InterVision solutions and services.
